In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the gas spore is a type of plant creature.

Publication history

The gas spore first appeared in the first edition in the original Monster Manual (1977).[1] The gas spore was further detailed in "The Ecology of the Gas Spore" in Dragon #120 (April 1987).

The blast spore appears in the basic edition of D&D in the Companion Rules set, in the Dungeon Masters Companion: Book Two (1984).[2] In 1991, it appears in the Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia.[3]

The gas spore appeared in second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in under the "fungus" entry in Monstrous Compendium Volume Two (1989),[4] and is reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993).[5] The gas spore also appears in I, Tyrant (1996).

The gas spore appeared in third edition Dungeons & Dragons in Lords of Madness (2005).[6]

Description

The gas spore strongly resembles a beholder, and explodes violently when struck.

The gas spore appeared in the Tome of Horrors (2002) from Necromancer Games.[7]
