Gold Coast bus route 700 is the only 24-hour bus route in Queensland. It operated by Surfside Buslines on the Gold Coast.

History

The route has operated in various forms over the years although its core has always been along the Gold Coast Highway from Tweed Heads to Southport. It was previously numbered 1 and continued south beyond Tweeds Heads to Kingscliff and north to Paradise Point.[1][2][3]

On 15 May 2006, route 1 was renumbered 700 and amended to operate between Tweed Heads and Southport bus station.[4]

On 21 July 2014, with the opening of the G:link light rail network, route 700 was curtailed to operate between Tweed Heads and Broadbeach South bus station. It continues to operate north to Southport and the Gold Coast University Hospital on Sunday to Thursday nights.[5]

It is part of the TransLink network and thus its ticketing system applies including for journeys that cross into New South Wales. Route 700 is an all stops service and is complemented by limited stops route 777 from Gold Coast Airport to Broadbeach South bus station.[6]
