HIP 79431 is an 11th magnitude M-type main sequence star located approximately 47 light years away in the constellation Scorpius. This star is smaller, cooler, dimmer, and less massive than our Sun. Also its metal content is 2.5 times as much as the Sun. In 2010, a superjovian planet was found in orbit around the star. This planet is one of the most massive found around a red dwarf star.
