Hedensted Municipality
Hedensted Kommune is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. Its seat and main town is Hedensted.
Overview
The municipality covers an area of 551.36 km² and has a total population of 45,788 (1 April 2014). Its mayor is Kirsten Terkilsen, a member of the liberal party Venstre. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hedensted.
The municipality is also a part of the East Jutland metropolitan area with 1,2 mio. inhabitants. .[1]
On January 1, 2007, as a result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), the former Juelsminde municipality and most of Tørring-Uldum municipality was merged into Hedensted municipality.
