Brønderslev Municipality

Location of the municipality

Brønderslev is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in North Denmark Region in Denmark. The municipality was originally named Brønderslev-Dronninglund, this being the longest name of a municipality in Denmark. But at the municipal council's first meeting they decided to shorten the name to a new and shorter form: Brønderslev municipality. On January 1, 2007 Brønderslev Municipality was created as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Brønderslev and Dronninglund. The new municipality will belong to the new Region Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region").

The municipal council is located in the town of Brønderslev.
