Holme Wood is a housing estate in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It borders Tyersal. It is the birthplace of actresses Sophie McShera[1] and Jennifer Metcalfe.[2] The estate is managed by Incommunities and Bradford Council. It is also one of the largest former council estate in Europe.

Etymology

This Holme, unlike others with the same place-name, is not from Old Norse holmr (island) but may be from Old English holegn (holly tree).
