Holyport F.C. are a football club based in Holyport, near Maidenhead, England. They were established in 1934. Currently they are members of the Hellenic Football League Premier Division.

History

The club was originally founded in 1934 and was refounded after World War 2 in 1956.[1] After the club re-founded Holport played in the Maidenhead and District League, playing their home games at Windsor Road in Bray village.[2] On leaving the Maidenhead & District League, Holyport joined the Hayes and Giles League where they played their home games at Braywick Park. In 2001/2002 after three very successful seasons, where they won the league in 3 out of the 4 previous seasons, the club Holyport decided to join the Hellenic League Division 1 East for the 2002/2003 season.[3] Two seasons later the club also left Braywick Park and moved to their present home of Summleaze Village in North Maidenhead.[2]

The club then spent the 2007–08 season upgrading their facilities, with floodlights and fencing being installed at their new home. This work enabled the club to enter the FA Vase for the first time in its history, for the 2008–09 season.[4] Two seasons later with some further improvements the club then made their debut in the FA cup competition.[3]

In 2010/11 the management team of Derek Sweetman, Kevin Carvell and Calvin Maye led the side to their best ever season at the time, by winning the Uhlsport Hellenic 1 Division East title, The Floodlit Cup and The Challenge Cup.[5] Since then further ground improvements have occurred with a new stand and hard standing being build, enabling the club to continue to pay in the Hellenic Premier league.[6][7] However, at the end of the 2014/15 season Holyport F.C. were relegated due to ground requirements not being met for Hellenic Premier division football.

Ground

Holyport play their games at Summerleaze village Cricket Club, Blackamoor Lane, Maidenhead, Berkshire SL6 8SP. The ground has a covered stands for a 100 people, floodlights and hard standing.[7] It complies with Grade F of the National Ground Grading Criteria.[6]
