Jayaprakash Narayan Nagar, popularly known as J. P. Nagar, is an established residential area located in the south of the Bangalore conurbation, India. It is located in proximity to prime residential areas such as Jayanagar, Banashankari, Bannerghatta Road and BTM Layout.

J. P. Nagar was created during the period of Ramakrishna Hegde as Chief Minister of Karnataka. It's a BDA promoted layout and is characterized by independent dwelling units, small scale apartment and high street retail developments. J. P. Nagar was developed as an extension of Jayanagar and Banashankari to accommodate the growing population of Bangalore. J. P. Nagar emerged as a major residential and commercial micro-market as a result of limited availability of plots and rising land rates in the existing BDA layouts such as Jayanagar and BTM Layout. J. P. Nagar is dominated by affluent local population of Bangalore and today it is regarded as a major residential colony in the south. J. P. Nagar is spread across approx. 2,500 acres developed in nine phases consisting of housing plots having amenities such as parks, water bodies, wide roads and BWSSB water supply.

J. P. Nagar is home to many prominent singers, actors and artists. Well-known residents of this locality include Kannada actor and politician Ambareesh, playwright and actor Girish Karnad, former Karnataka Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath and Gunduppa Vishwanath, actor Sudeepa, Golden star Ganesh, Sihi Kahi Chandru and actress Tara. The well-known theatre for arts Ranga Shankara is located in J. P. Nagar.
