Jellyfish Entertainment (Hangul: 젤리피쉬엔터테인먼트), is a South Korean record label and entertainment agency established by music composer and producer Hwang Sei Joon in Seoul, South Korea.

Jellyfish Entertainment is home to solo artists Park Hyo Shin, Park Yoon-ha, Seo In Guk, Sung Si Kyung, and boy group VIXX and their sub-unit VIXX LR.[1] The agency also manages a number of actors such as Julien Kang, Park Jung-ah, Choi Ji-na and Park Jung-soo.

History

Jellyfish Entertainment co,. LTD. was founded on August 17, 2007 in Seoul by music composer and producer Hwang Se-jun.

Ballad singer Sung Si-kyung was the first artist to sign an exclusive contract with Jellyfish Entertainment and released a single "Parting Once Again" (Hangul: 한번 더 이별).

In August 2008, Lisa and Park Hak Ki signed an exclusive contract with Jellyfish Entertainment.

In November 2008, "Hwang Project Vol.1 Welcome To The Fantastic World" (Feat. Park Hyo-shin) was released and Park Hyo-shin signed an exclusive contract with Jellyfish Entertainment.

In November 2009, Seo In-guk (Super Star K) and Altair (Lee Ji Hoon) signed an exclusive contract.

In December 2010 Jellyfish Entertainment artists came together for the first time for the Jelly Christmas holiday album project with the single "Christmas Time".[2]

In December 2011, Jellyfish Entertainment artists Sung Si-kyung, Brian Joo, Seo In-guk, Park Hak Ki, Park Jang Hyun and Hwang Project came together again for Jelly Christmas with the single "Christmas for All".[3]

On May 24, 2012, Jellyfish Entertainment's first boy band VIXX debuted with Super Hero on M! Countdown.

In June 2012, Lee Seok Hoon released digital single The Beginning of Love (Y.Bird from Jellyfish Island with Lee Seok Hoon) under the Y.Bird from Jellyfish Island project created by Hwang Se-jun.

On September 12, 2012, Jellyfish Entertainment held their first live concert Jellyfish Live at Tokyo's Zepp Diver City in Japan.[4][5]

In December 2012, Park Hyo-shin and Sung Si-kyung held concert performances in Seoul. Jellyfish Entertainment artists came together for the Jelly Christmas 2012 Heart Project with the single “Because It's Christmas”.[6] The proceeds from Jelly Christmas 2012 Heart Project was donated to Salvation Army Korea.[7][8]

In February 2013, Seo In-guk released digital single I Can't Live Because of You (feat. Verbal Jint) (Y.BIRD from Jellyfish Island With Seo In Guk) under the Y.Bird from Jellyfish Island project created by Hwang Se-jun.[9][10][11][12]

In October 2013, VIXX collaborated with indie duo OKDAL and released digital single Girl’s Why? (Y.BIRD from Jellyfish with VIXX & OKDAL) under the Y.Bird from Jellyfish Island project created by Hwang Se-jun.[13]

In 2014 Jellyfish Entertainment became partners with CJ E&M Music Performance Division.[14]

In July 2015, former K-pop Star 4 TOP 6 contestant Park Yoon-ha signed an exclusive contract with Jellyfish Entertainment.[15]

In August 2015, Jellyfish debuted VIXX's first sub-unit. VIXX LR was confirmed by Jellyfish Entertainment to be VIXX’s first official sub-unit composed of rapper Ravi and vocalist Leo.[16][17][18]

On December 15, 2015 Jellyfish Entertainment released their Jelly Christmas 2015 single album featuring the song, “Love In The Air” (Hangul: 사랑난로). The announced participating the Jellyfish artists were Seo In Guk, VIXX, former Jewelry member Park JungA and former K-pop Star 4 contestant Park Yoon-ha.[19][20]

From December 18, 2015 to April 1, 2016 Jellyfish trainees Kim Na-young, Kang Mi-na and Kim Se-jeong represented Jellyfish Entertainment in the reality girl group survival show Produce 101. Subsequently only Kang Mi-na and Kim Se-jeong won a position in the year-long project girl group I.O.I while still representing Jellyfish Entertainment.[21][22]
