Kopaganj is a town and a [aadersh nagar panchayat] in Mau district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Geography
Kopaganj کوپا گنج is located at 26°01′N 83°34′E / 26.02°N 83.57°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 66 metres (217 feet). main religion in kopaganj is Hindu and Muslims.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[2] Kopaganj had a population of 55,231. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kopaganj has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 74%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 71%. In Kopaganj, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is one of the oldest town in the district Mau, Uttara Pradesh. The name of the town is in the name of queen Kopeshwari Devi, Grand mother of queen Dhandaie Kunwar. This town has a mix population of Hindus and Muslims with majority of Muslims. This town is famous for textile industries particularly handloom sarees. It is one of the oldest town in Uttar Pradesh.
HAJI ABDUR RAB
Haji Abdur Rab was born of 7th june1904. He was very kind hearted. His father, SHEIKH ABDULLAH was appointed magistrate by the British government. His grandfather MOHAMMAD AZAM lived in Bahadurganj and later migrated to kopaganj.
He started a firm by the name SEKHAWATULLAH HEDAITULLAH along with his brothers named, SEKHAWATULLAH, HEDAITULLAH, ABDUR RAB and ABDUL WALI.
He was married to MAJEEDUN NISA at an early age n had seven sons named, HAFIZULLAH, FASIHULLAH,AZIZULLAH ABDUR RAHIM, ABDUL SAMAD, ABDUL KAREEM and ABDUL AHAD and four daughters.
He was a religious and down to earth person who spent his life doing good for all. He died on 15 July 1996 while he was admitted in haleema hospital. His son Abdur Raheem is running educational institutions after their names. H.A RAB DEGREE COLLEGE in mau and MAJEEDUN NISA GIRLS PG COLLEGE in kopaganj which are renowned institutions for education of girls.
