The lone Legislative district of Basilan is the congressional representation of the province of Basilan in the House of Representatives of the Philippines. Basilan was part of the representation of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu from 1916 to 1935, Zamboanga Province from 1935 to 1953, Zamboanga del Sur from 1953 until 1973 when Basilan was created as province. During this time, the Philippine Congress was dissolved and Basilan started to be represented when it was made part of the representation of Region IX during the Interim Batasang Pambansa from 1978 to 1984. It first elected its own representative in 1984.
