Notes

  1. The naming rights for NASCAR races are typically sold to companies to advertise in the sport. These rights are frequently resold to different buyers, sometimes yearly, so the event names change. The names listed here are those for the 2007 season.
  2. During post-race inspection, it was discovered that Jeff Gordon's car was one inch too low due to misaligned bolts on a shock absorber. Gordon kept the win, but as a result started 42nd in the 2007 Daytona 500.
  3. Severe thunderstorms forced the cancellation of qualifying. In these cases, NASCAR uses owner points to determine the pole sitter. As of the Goody's Cool Orange 500 at Martinsville Speedway on April 1st, Rick Hendrick's #24 car was ranked first in owner points. The #24 is driven by Jeff Gordon.
  4. 59th pole of Gordon's career, tying him with Darrell Waltrip for fourth on the all-time pole winner's list.
  5. With this win, Jeff Gordon tied Dale Earnhardt for 6th in all-time Cup wins at 76 victories.
  6. David Gilliland tied Gordon's qualifying speed of 192.069 mph. Qualifying rules indicate that in the case of a tie the pole goes to the driver with the highest Cup point standing, which at this point in the 2007 season, was Gordon.
  7. With his win at Talladega, Gordon became 6th on the all-time Cup winners list
  8. Originally scheduled for a nighttime race on Saturday, May 12th, rain forced the race to be postponed until the following afternoon.
  9. Bowyer's first career Cup Series pole
  10. Mears' first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory.
  11. Truex Jr's first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory.
  12. Rain-shortened race, called at lap 107. Fourth career win for Gordon in a rain-shortened race.
  13. Yeley's first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup pole
  14. Montoya's first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory.
  15. First pole for a Toyota
  16. 2007 is the last year that PepsiCo will be the sponsor of the Independence Day 400 mile race
  17. Rain forced the cancellation of qualifying. In these cases, NASCAR uses owner points to determine the pole sitter. As of the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway on July 1st, Rick Hendrick's #24 car was ranked first in owner points. The #24 is driven by Jeff Gordon. This was the second rain-canceled qualifying which placed Gordon on the pole this year.
  18. Rain forced the cancellation of qualifying. In these cases, NASCAR uses owner points to determine the pole sitter. As of the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on August 5th, Rick Hendrick's #24 car was ranked first in owner points. The #24 is driven by Jeff Gordon. This was the third rain-canceled qualifying which placed Gordon on the pole this year.
  19. Postponed due to rain, the 2007 3M Performance 400 was rescheduled to noon, Monday, August 20.
  20. Second postponement due to rain, the 2007 3M Performance 400 is scheduled for 10 AM, Tuesday, August 21.
  21. Clint Bowyer's first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory.
  22. Race ended under caution, due to darkness, with Biffle in the lead.
  23. Truex's first career Cup Series pole
  24. Johnson became only the eighth driver in NASCAR history to win four consecutive races. The last racer to do was Jeff Gordon at the Pepsi 400 in Brooklyn, Michigan, in 1998.
  25. Stremme set a track record for qualifying @ 28.811s / 166.561 mph
  26. Ragan's first career pole.
  27. Labonte's win at Talladega was his 10th career Busch victory
  28. Smith's fist NASCAR Busch Series pole.
  29. First career win for Leicht
  30. First non-NEXTEL Cup regular to win NASCAR Busch Series race this year.
  31. Denny Hamlin replaced Almirola under caution between laps 58 and 62. Hamlin took the checkers, but under NASCAR Busch Series rules, the driver who starts the race gets credit for the start, all points accrued, and the finish. Thus, while Hamlin took the checkers, Almirola is officially recorded as the winner.
  32. This race was postponed for rain, rescheduled and run on Saturday, July 7th
  33. New race for 2007
  34. Harvick's 30th career Busch Series win
  35. The 800th race in the NASCAR Busch Series. The 2007 Sam's Town race set a race record 25 cautions, one short of the Busch Series record 26 set in 1992 at Hickory, N.C.
  36. First career pole for rookie Ambrose
  37. Reutiman's first Busch Series win.
  38. Harvick's 32nd career Busch Series win, placing him second on the all-time Busch Series victories list (behind Mark Martin, with 47).
  39. Darnell's first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck victory
  40. With this win, Ron Hornaday became the first driver in NCTS history to reach 30 wins
  41. Rain cancelled qualifications, leaving points leader Skinner on the pole, per NASCAR rules.
  42. Kyle Busch's 5th NASCAR Craftsman Truck victory.
