List of rampage killers (Africa and the Middle East)

This section of the list of rampage killers contains those cases that occurred in Africa and the Middle East.

This section does not include school massacres, workplace killings, hate crimes, or mass murders that took place primarily in a domestic environment, like familicides, which are covered in their own categories. Cases where the primary motive for the murders was to facilitate or cover up another felony, like robbery, are also excluded.

A rampage killer has been defined as follows:

A rampage involves the (attempted) killing of multiple persons least partly in public space by a single physically present perpetrator using (potentially) deadly weapons in a single event without any cooling-off period.[1]

This list should contain every case with at least one of the following features:

W – A basic description of the weapons used in the murders

F – Firearms and other ranged weapons, especially rifles and handguns, but also bows and crossbows, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, or slingshots
M – Melee weapons, like knives, swords, spears, machetes, axes, clubs, rods, stones, or bare hands
O – Any other weapons, such as bombs, hand grenades, Molotov cocktails, poison and poisonous gas, as well as vehicle and arson attacks

  4. During the funeral of a colleague, in the village of Asureti, a Ugandan special forces officer began shooting and finally committed suicide. 16 people died on the spot, another five later succumbed to their wounds, bringing the number of killed to 21, of which two were policemen.
