Malta competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's fifteenth appearance at the Olympics since its debut in 1928.
Malta Olympic Committee sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Five athletes were selected to the team to compete only in 3 different sports; four of them, however, had been granted wild card entries in athletics and swimming. Double trap shooter and world champion William Chetcuti, Malta's only Olympic qualifier who finished eighth in Beijing, reprised his role to carry the nation's flag at the opening ceremony, the first happened in 2004.[1] Malta, however, has yet to win its first ever Olympic medal.
