The Oceanic island nation of Tonga competed at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's eighth consecutive appearance at the Olympics.
Three Tongan athletes received their spots in athletics and swimming by wild card entries, without having qualified.[1] Shot putter Ana Po'uhila was the nation's only athlete in the team to compete at her second Olympics. Meanwhile, breaststroke swimmer Amini Fonua, a telecommunications student, major in media studies, at Texas A&M University, was Tonga's flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
Tonga, however, failed to win its first ever Olympic medal since the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where Paea Wolfgramm won silver for boxing.
