Melandaha (Bengali: মেলানদহ) is an Upazila of Jamalpur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.[1]

Geography

Melandaha is located at 24°58′00″N 89°50′00″E / 24.9667°N 89.8333°E / 24.9667; 89.8333 . It has 55954 households and total area 239.65 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Melandaha has a population of 262478. Males constitute 51.39% of the population, and females 48.61%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 133860. Melandaha has an average literacy rate of 17.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[2]

Melandaha has 11 Unions/Wards, 140 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 190 villages.
