Melchon is a Duke of Hell in the service of Mammon, in the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game.
Publication history
Melchon first appears in Ed Greenwood's article "The Nine Hells Part I" in Dragon #75 (1983).[1]
Melchon was briefly detailed in Fiendish Codex II: Tyrants of the Nine Hells (2006).[2]
Description
Melchon is a fiery red-skinned, humanoid devil with upturned, bull-like horns; black, curling brows and beard; black hooves; and large, crimson wings.
Relationships
Melchon is a lesser commander in the service of Mammon. A devil most jealous of his stronger fellows, Melchon is something of a malcontent in Minauros, and would welcome any setback to Bael or Focalur—but he masks his true feelings.
Since then, he seems to have run out of patience, and he is currently conspiring with Caarcrinolaas, a fellow servant of Mammon, to murder the duke Bael and seize control of his legions, then use these additional troops to launch a coup against Mammon himself. Little do they know that they are actually doing the will of Glasya, who wishes to destroy Mammon, her former lover, and add his layer to her own.
Vassals
Melchon is served by 18 companies of erinyes, those who refused to follow Glasya when she left Mammon to pursue her own schemes. Each company includes 333 soldiers.
