Modena is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 535 at the 2010 census. It was originally called Modeville, after the local Mode family.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2), all of it land.

At the 2010 census, the borough was 56.6% non-Hispanic White, 22.6% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.6% Asian, and 5.0% were two or more races. 17.4% of the population were of Hispanic or Latino ancestry .
As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 610 people, 200 households, and 160 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,847.4 people per square mile (713.7/km²). There were 211 housing units at an average density of 639.0 per square mile (246.9/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 75.57% White, 18.03% African American, 0.49% Native American, 1.80% from other races, and 4.10% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.64% of the population.
There were 200 households, out of which 45.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% were married couples living together, 23.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% were non-families. 14.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.05 and the average family size was 3.33.
In the borough the population was spread out, with 36.4% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.8 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $36,125, and the median income for a family was $34,000. Males had a median income of $32,000 versus $24,375 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $12,269. About 23.4% of families and 24.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 29.4% of those under age 18 and 40.4% of those age 65 or over.
