Nick Jr. is an educational cable TV channel aimed at younger children. Operated by MTV Networks Asia Pacific and owned by Viacom International. On December 24, 2010 Nick Jr. South East Asia was launched in New Zealand on SKY TV, almost 4 months before its official launch in Asia.

On May 16, 2011, Viacom launched two new channels, Nick Jr. and MTVNHD, in Asia. These 24-hour channels will be available on StarHub TV in Singapore beginning May 18 on Telekom Malaysia Berhad's Hypp.TV in Malaysia on June 1 and onwards. Nick Jr. is still a block in Nickelodeon Philippines.[1] Starting on February 1, the channel will be available in the Philippines on SkyCable Channel 103 (Digital),[2] Destiny Cable Channel 103 (Digital)Cablelink Channel 212 and G Sat Channel 22

History

Nick Jr. along with MTVNHD was launched in New Zealand on December 24, 2010 and in Asia on May 16, 2011. It was promoted on Nickelodeon. The channel is available on StarHub TV in Singapore, Hypp.TV in Malaysia, SKY TV in New Zealand, ABNXcess and Astro in Malaysia, SkyCable and Cablelink in the Philippines, and on TVB Network Vision in Hong Kong. MTV Asia has broadcast to New Zealand before Nick Jr. Nickelodeon South East Asia previously broadcast to New Zealand from 2000 to 2006. Nick Jr. The Smart Place to Play. Also available in Nick Jr. high definition in Southeast Asia and selected regions.

Programming

Nick Jr. in South East Asia is a 24-hour commercial free channel.
