Patrick Daley Thompson (born 1968) is an alderman in Chicago's 11th Ward. He is the grandson of Richard J. Daley and is the nephew of Richard M. Daley, both of whom served as mayors of Chicago.[1] Thompson, who succeeded long-time alderman James Balcer, was elected to office in a runoff election in April of 2015. He was sworn in on May 18, 2015.[2]
The 11th Ward encompasses several neighborhoods on Chicago's South Side, including Bridgeport, where Thompson was raised and currently resides. Bridgeport has a long history as a hotbed of Chicago politics and has been home to five of the city's mayors, including both of the Daleys.
