The divine idol installed here represents the world–enchanting form of Ayyappan. Lord Ayyappan is a symbol of religious unity & communal harmony. Lord Ayyappan is also known as Dharmasastha, Hariharasuthan, Manikantan, Saasthan, Sastha) and Ayyanar.

Lord Ayyappan is worshipped in shrines across India: at Kulathupuzha, in Kerala, he is worshipped as a child; at Achenkovil in conjunction with his consorts, Pushkala and Poorna; and at Sabarimala as an ascetic, a celibate meditating in solitude for the benefit of all mankind. The word Ayyappan is derived from two words Ayya (meaning Vishnu) and Appan (meaning Shiva).

Renovation

The Temple was renovated after the Devaprasna under the supervision of Sree Kanttararu Rajeevararu which revealed that the dilapidated state of the temple has adversely affected the progress and prosperity of the land and its people. The sacred Temple was in a dilapidated condition from many years and therefore the renovation of the Temple was performed. The Temple has a beautiful and spacious renovated outer “Gopuram” enclosing the outer precincts, forming into circum-temple (Chuttambalam). Apart from the renovation and rejuvenation works of the traditional edifice of the temple several other development works to facilitate the visiting devotees have been completed by the earnest and dedicated effort of the administrative committee along with the whole hearted co-operation of the temple staff and with commitment, involvement, dedication and liberal donation of the devotees.
