Rangpur Riders
The Rangpur Riders is a franchise cricket team based in Rangpur, Bangladesh. The team competes in Bangladeshi Twenty20 cricket competition Bangladesh Premier League.[1] Rangpur Stadium serves as the home ground for the team. The team's official colors are Dark Blue and Light Blue.[2] The team was founded in 2012 and made its first appearance during the second season of the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League as the seventh team in the tournament.[3][4]
The Riders are coached by Former Bangladesh National Cricket Team coach Shane Jurgensen, and lead by Shakib Al Hasan, who is also the icon player of the team.[5]
History
In 2012, The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) created the cricket tournament Bangladesh Premier League based on the Twenty20 form of the game. For the inaugural tournament held in February of the same year, a list of 6 teams who will be participating in the inaugural tournament was finalized. In December 2012, Rangpur Riders was bought by I-Sports for a price of US$3.10 million..[6]
