Real Monarchs SLC is an American soccer club that plays in the United Soccer League.[2]

The team is affiliated with the Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake and will play their games at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah with the intention of moving into their own stadium once it is completed. The club originally looked at building a new stadium in Salt Lake City at the Utah State Fairpark but on February 25, 2015, club owner Dell Loy Hansen rescinded his offer.[3] On March 3, 2015, Hansen announced that he had entered into negotiations to build the stadium in West Valley City.[4]

History

RSL Academy coach Freddy Juarez was named Head Coach on December 23, 2014.[5] The Monarchs played the LA Galaxy II to a scoreless tie in their USL debut on March 22, 2015 in Carson, California.[6]
