Rivals Philippines (also known as Rivals Sports Network) is an independent sports news website based in Malingap St., Teachers Village, Quezon City, Philippines. Founded in December 2010 by James and Griffin Multimedia, took 3 reincarnations before it was relaunched in June 22, 2014 during the coverage of the 2014 Cagayan Friendship Games Volleyball tournament.[3]

At present, Rivals is one of the top sports news websites in the Philippines, aside from Summit Media's SPIN.ph (Sports Interactive Network Philippines), Sportsdesk.ph, Sports5.ph, among other websites dedicated to the sports development.

Background

Rivals.ph delivers accurate, real-time and latest sports stories, stats and figures (thru the Rivals Rundown), opinions and analysis, photos & videos and commentaries in the Philippine & international sports world including professional and amateur/grassroots sports like basketball (NBA, PBA, UAAP, NCAA), volleyball (SVL, PSL, UAAP and NCAA), football, fight sports (boxing and mixed martial arts), tennis, Formula One, poker and cheerdance. Rivals currently partnered with Sheridan Hoops and the European Press Photo Agency.

One of the most-viewed sections of the Rivals website is the Hype section which brings to the readers, the lighter side of the sports that Rivals covered including the top 10 lists and the newly launched "Fans Central" section. (sport fandom articles created for the fans, by the fans)

During the first three months of operation of the 3rd incarnation of Rivals.ph, the website already reached more than 1.5 million page views (by month).[4]

Rivals is composed of full-time writers, photographers and contributors who have major work experience in sports journalism and taking multimedia content in the website. Rivals working out for the launching of their own magazine using the Rivals brand that will published by November 2014.
