Riverdale is a teen drama television project based on the characters by Archie Comics. It is being developed by The CW and a pilot has been ordered. The pilot is under consideration for a series order, and if picked up to series, will air during the 2016–17 television season , coinciding with the Archie character's 75th anniversary. The pilot is being written by Archie Comics' chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.[2][3]

Development

Riverdale was originally in development at Fox, with the network landing the project in 2014 with a script deal plus penalty.[4] However, Fox did not go forward with the project. The show's development was then moved to The CW in 2015. The CW officially ordered a pilot on January 29, 2016. The pilot began filming on March 14 and ended on March 23.[5]

Plot

Riverdale follows Archie Andrews' life in a small town while exploring the darkness hidden behind Riverdale's seemingly-perfect image.[6]
