“Rubberneckin'” is a song performed by Elvis Presley which was recorded at American Sound Studio.  It would be used in the film Change of Habit and subsequently issued as the b-side of RCA single 47-9768 “Don't Cry Daddy” in conjunction with the movie premiere.[1]  It reached #6 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969.[2]

In 2003, Paul Oakenfold remixed “Rubberneckin'”, and it was released as a single and on the album ELV1S: 2nd to None.  The remixed song was used in a commercial by Toyota to introduce their Solara model.[3]  It peaked at #3 on the Australia Singles Top 50 and stayed there for 1 week. It also hit the top 10 in Denmark, Finland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom but only managed to hit #94 on the Billboard Hot 100.[4]

Northern soul popularity

Rubberneckin' was played by some D.J.'s on the U.K. Northern Soul scene, even being played at the Legendary Wigan Casino Club Allnighters by D.J. Dave Evison.

Used in advertising

In 1984, Denny's Restaurant used the original 1969 version in 30-second TV spots.
