Slip knot

[1] The slip knot is a stopper knot which, when the tail is pulled on, easily becomes undone. The slip knot is not to be confused with the running knot, for the slip knot will come undone when the tail is pulled on but will not tighten under load, but the running knot will tighten under load; Although you may pull on the tail of the running knot and it will not come undone.

Standard creation for a slip knot

This is a starting point used for crochet and knitting. Take a length of yarn and create a loop in the shape of a "p". Place hand or hook through a hole and grab thread on top and draw through bottom of loop. Draw until a small loop is created.
