Sam Shaw (footballer)
Sam Shaw (born 5 April 1991) is a professional Australian rules football player who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited with pick #45 in the 2009 National Draft, having played as a junior for the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup.
AFL career
After two years ravaged by injuries, Shaw made his debut in Round 4, 2012, against Greater Western Sydney. He continued to struggle with injury for the rest of the season but showed promise as a key defender and was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in round 21.[1] Shaw sustained a major hamstring tear early in 2013 which kept him out of the side for the majority of the year, although he worked his way into the side for two games late in the year. In 2014 Shaw played in five of the first seven games but again was struck down by hamstring issues, returning for one more game in round 21. He underwent surgery in the off-season in an attempt to correct his hamstring complaint.[2]
