Serbomans

Serbomans (Bulgarian: сърбомани, sarbomani, Macedonian: србомани, srbomani) (singular Serboman) was a Bulgarian pejorative term used by Bulgarian nationalists for inhabitants in the region of Macedonia that claimed Serbian ethnicity (declared as Serbs) and supported Serbian national ideals[1] at the beginning of the 20th century. It was also used pejoratively by Bulgarians to refer to Macedonians who refused the Bulgarian national idea.[2] The origin of the term is unclear. It first appeared during the time of the Serbian-Bulgarian rivalry for present-day Macedonia.[3] Serbian nationalists used the term Bugaraši for Macedonian Bulgarians, supporters of the Bulgarian Exarchate.
