The shocker lizard is a magical beast in the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game.

Publication history

Jason Carl designed the shocker lizard, which first appeared in the adventure "Into the Darkness".[1]

The shocker lizard appeared in the third edition Monster Manual (2000),[2] and in the 3.5 revised Monster Manual (2003). The shocker lizard familiar appeared in Tome and Blood (2001), and later in the revised 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide (2003).

Description

Shocker lizards are lizards with powerful electric abilities. Shocker lizards are blue, being pale on the underbelly and darker with black markings along the back. They are about 1 foot tall at the shoulder and equally long. Their tail is barbed, and they have two, long, thin, antenna-like horns coming from their head. They are always wreathed in glowing, crackling lightning and electricity.

The shocker lizard usually lives peacefully in the wilderness with much the same habits as a normal lizard, but when potential foes come near, they have an obvious advantage in combat. With one touch, it can knock opponents unconscious, and it then either escapes or attempts to weaken them via bites. It may also bite if the shock has no effect. If there are two or more shocker lizards present, they can bond their charges together to create a lethal shock.

Shocker lizards cannot speak.
