Siddharth Anand (also known as Siddharth Raj Anand) is an Indian film director. He is the son of film producer Bittu Anand who produced the Amitabh Bachchan hit, Shahenshah. Anand's grandfather was screenwriter Inder Raj Anand who wrote 120 films including Safar, Sangam and Ek Duje Ke Liye. Siddharth is also the nephew of a prominent Hindi film actor, Tinnu Anand.
Career
Anand began his film career by helping Rahul Rawail direct his film Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, that starred Kajol. He then co-wrote the 2004 hit Hum Tum along with Kunal Kohli and also worked as an executive producer and associate director on the film.
When 27, Anand directed Salaam Namaste loosely based on Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore starrer Nine Months, starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. The film was one of the biggest hits of 2005 and it helped him establish himself as a director in the Hindi film industry.
Anand's second venture, Ta Ra Rum Pum was released in April 2007. The film stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji and was a semi hit at the box office. Anand's third one Bachna Ae Haseeno starring Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor released on 15 August 2008. The film ran successfully worldwide and was a hit.
These three films were part of his contract with Yash Raj Films.
His most recent film Anjaana Anjaani, starred Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, and was produced by Sajid Nadiawala. It was released worldwide on 1 October 2010, after a one-week delay. Although the film received a good opening, it was an above average grosser[1]
Anand has worked with music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar in all four of his films with all albums becoming popular.
Anand's next directorial film Bang Bang!, loosely based on Knight and Day starring Hritik Roshan and Katrina Kaif released on 2 October 2014 and received mixed reviews.
Personal life
Siddarth was married to Mamta Bhatia-Anand and they have a son named Ranveer (RV), whose name was the base of Saif Ali Khan's character in Ta Ra Rum Pum.
