Songir is the largest town in Dhule Taluka, situated on the intersection of National Highway 3 (Mumbai-Agra) and state highway 17 (Ahmedabad). It is the trading hub for around 100 small villages and localities.

Historically Songir has been renowned as a largest manufacturer of Copper and Brass Utensils. The Copper pots are totally hand made and processed by using conventional manufacturing process.due to this copper pot made here has high level benchmark. This copper pot market is not only spread in district or Taluka but also renowned in State (Mahrashtra).

Songir also have been renowned as a largest manufacturer of Bullock carts which are made by using specialized wood since a long time. it has large number of proficient bullock cart maker.Customizing bullock cart of different size is one speciality of cart makers.The design and Quality of very attractive bullock cart is the USP of all carpenter ,blacksmith and goldsmiths working here in songir. bullock market of Songir also renowned in the State(Maharashtra).

Songir also has Shawls and Rugs manufacturing business.

Different religion people in songir have been living in unity and peace since few centuries, which still continues.

It has a science college, D.Ed Colleges, Science and Arts Senior College on the education and training front.

Small-scale industry is sprawling up around the area to support the big houses like Suzlon and also help construct the part of Golden Quadrilateral that runs through it. Famously known for its "Dhaba Style Food", especially "Shev Bhaji". Songir fata provides employment for hundreds if not thousands in the region.

The Songir fort atop the village. This fort is in the form of narrow strip 30mtr wide. An easy climb of 20mins takes to the top of the fort. Songir is covered by 3 to 4 small forts, which are helping in winter and summer season from cold and hot wind respectively.

Temples in Sognir include Someshwar, Gurugovind Maharaj, Jain Mandir and also Balaji Rath. Couple of the notable temples are Someshwar and Samadhi of Guru Govind Maharaj.[1]
