Sydney Marie Perry is an American beauty queen and model who is best known for winning the Miss Vermont Teen USA 2008 and Miss North Carolina USA 2012 titles, and competing in the nationally televised Miss Teen USA 2008 and Miss USA 2012 beauty pageants.

Early life

Perry was born in Barre, Vermont to Mark Perry and Yvonne Garand. She grew up in Barre and later moved to Middlesex, Vermont. She attended Union 32 High School in East Montpelier, Vermont, where she was a varsity cheerleader and tennis player. She has a brother, Lane Perry, a stepsister, Renee Garand, and a stepbrother, Connor Garand. Her aunt is performance artist, lecturer, and teacher Janice Perry.[1] She is of English descent.

Pageants

Perry became interested in pageants at an early age when she use to play with her mother's Miss Vermont World crown and sash, but at her mother's insistence she did not become involved with pageantry until she was a teenager.[2] Her first attempt at winning a crown was at the Miss Vermont Teen USA 2007 pageant, where she placed second runner up. She would later win the Miss Vermont Teen USA 2008 and Miss North Carolina USA 2012 titles.

Miss Vermont Teen USA

Perry first competed in the Miss Vermont Teen USA 2007 pageant where she placed second runner up to Olivia Hubbard.[3] On November 25, 2007 in Burlington, Vermont, Perry returned to the stage and took home the Miss Vermont Teen USA 2008 crown.[4]

Miss Teen USA

On August 16, 2008, Perry represented the state of Vermont in the national Miss Teen USA pageant, but she did not make it to the semifinals round. Stevi Perry of Arkansas was crowned Miss Teen USA 2008 that evening.[5]

Miss North Carolina USA

On November 12, 2011, Perry won the title of Miss North Carolina USA 2012 on her first attempt at the crown. Her regional title was Miss Wilmington USA.[6]

On June 3, 2012 Perry represented the state of North Carolina at the national Miss USA 2012 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, but did not place in the semifinals round. Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island was crowned Miss USA 2012 by her predecessor, Alyssa Campanella.[7]

Personal life

Perry lives in Wilmington, North Carolina and is a graduate from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a dregree in marine biology and psychology.[8] Perry made her modeling debut in April 2012 at the Passport for Fashion runway show in Charlotte, North Carolina.[9]
