Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development was established in 1993 by its founder director Prof. M S Pillai under the leadership of Chancellor S. B. Mujumdar and is affiliated to the Symbiosis International University. It is a Premier Business School and has been consistently ranked amongst the Top B-schools in India.
History
The Institute was established in 1993 by its founder director Prof. M S Pillai under the SIU Chancellor. It moved to the picturesque campus of Hinjewadi in 1995 set amidst the corporate IT park. The institute has a legacy of creating future managers which are consistently placed in top notch companies. In 2006, SCMHRD came under the ambit of Symbiosis International University and began to offer an [MBA] degree. More than twenty years into its journey, the institute is renowned for imparting quality management education in the streams of Finance, Marketing, Operationas Management in addition to Human Resources. In 2009, an MoU was signed and Americares India Foundation in which SCMHRD stepped into the role of "Research and Academic Partner". In 2015, MBA in Infrastructure Management course was started.

Campuses and institutes
SCMHRD is a part of the Symbiosis Infotech Campus set amidst the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi surrounded by hills. Its campus also consists of Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology.
Admission
The Symbiosis International University conducts the Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test, a national level entrance examination conducted in December for admission to MBA post-graduation programs run by the university's affiliated colleges.
SCMHRD has an intake of 180 students.
Format
The SNAP Test is an objective type paper-based exam. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. The paper is divided into four sections:[1]
- General English
- Quantitative Data Interpretation an Data Sufficiency
- General Awareness
- Analytical and Logical Reasoning
Reservation policy
The university follows the UGC Reservation Guidelines for the admission process through the SNAP Test. The reservations offered by the University are as follows:
- Scheduled Castes (SC) : 15%
- Scheduled Tribes (ST) : 14%
- Differently Abled : 3%
- Kashmiri Migrants : 2 seats per program
- International Candidates : 15%
Student Utilities
The institute boasts of a 5 acre campus consisting of administrative building, a modern auditorium, cafeteria, mess, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, Recreation Centre (for cricket, football, Basketball, badminton courts Health Care Centre, Library, Hostels and Classrooms including Wi-Fi. The Symbiosis Premiere League (SPL) is the main event organised on the lines of the BCCI's IPL .It is the host of competitions in Cricket and Football.
Hostels are for men as well as women with Wi-Fi, Laundary Service, General Store, SBI ATM, and Photocopy, print facility.
Clubs and Committees
The School houses of 19 clubs and committees for various events such as music, consulting, sports, admissions, annual fest, alumni relations etc.
The Annual cultural event "Neev" is one of the largest b-school fests in India.[2]
Rankings and Awards
SCMHRD is known by its rigorous schedule and the hard working brainy creatures called SCMHRDians. This Rigor has led SCMHRD to enter the top business schools in India.
- SCMHRD was ranked 12th best business school by the Business Today survey for Top Business Schools in India.[3]
- Ranked 12th Overall, 6th among Private institutes by the CSR-GHRDC B-School Survey in 2014.[4]
- It is the youngest institute to be ranked in top business schools list.
- Outlook Drishti Survey ranked SCMHRD as 8th best private b-school and 14th best b-school in india. [5]
- It has been given 3 PALMES OF EXCELLENCE - EXCELLENT BUSINESS SCHOOL WITH STRONG GLOBAL INFLUENCE by eduniversal B-school rankings.[6]
- It has been given 7th rank in cluster AA by T.I.M.E.'s list of top b-schools.[7]
It is highly ranked in the country for MBA Human Resources after XLRI and TISS. Other than HR it is also known for other fields like marketing and finance which is certified by CFA. It is one of the few institutes to have crisil audited Placement Reports.
