Torchy Blane... Playing with Dynamite is a 1939 American comedy-mystery film directed by Noel M. Smith and written by Earle Snell and Charles Belden. The film stars Jane Wyman, Allen Jenkins, Tom Kennedy and Sheila Bromley. It was released on August 12, 1939.[1][2][3] This is the final film in a series of nine "Torchy Blane" movie by Warner Bros.
Plot
While in court for a traffic ticket, reporter Torchy Blane encounters Jackie Maguire, who is the girlfriend of notorious bank robber Denver Eddie, she is sentenced to jail for shoplifting. Torchy gets herself thrown into jail, so that she can befriends Jackie. And with the help and collusion of the police and her boyfriend detective Steve McBride, she escaped the women's prison with Jackie to San Francisco, where Jackie is meeting her boyfriend. They are followed by Steve and Gahagan. Steve hopes to capture Denver Eddie to collected the $5000 reward as a down payment for a house for him and Torchy. Denver is arrested when he attends a wrestling match at the arena with Jackie and Torchy, between Gahagan (posed as a wrestler named Harry the Horse) and The Bone Crusher.
