Following her education, she joined Orange County punk-funk bands Doggy Style and Double Freak. Following her recording and singing career, Calhoun continued her higher education at Loyola Marymount University where she received her Masters of Arts in Teacher education. She worked at Golden West College in administrative office, as well as for the City of Fullerton.[3] In 2013, Calhoun ran for candidacy as a school board member for the Fullerton Joint Union High School District.[7]
