WHVO (1480 AM) and WKDZ (1110 AM) are a pair of radio stations simulcasting an Oldies format. Licensed to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, USA, WHVO serves the Clarksville-Hopkinsville area. The stations are currently owned by Ham Broadcasting Co., Inc. and feature news programming from Fox News Radio.[4]
History
WHVO history
WHVO was assigned the call letters WYKH on 1986-04-01. On 1987-12-14, the station changed its call sign to WQKS and again on 2000-05-16 to the current WHVO.[5]
WKDZ-AM history
WKDZ signed on the air April 8, 1966. [6] The first music played on the station was the Star-Spangled Banner by the Trigg County High School band. The first song played was These Boots Are Made for Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra.
Programming
In addition to the Oldies music format, WHVO also broadcasts live coverage of Fort Campbell High School Falcons football. [7]
News operation
WHVO broadcasts their own news operation. The one-hour newscasts, branded as News Edge, are broadcast at 12 Noon and 5:00 p.m. Central Time over all three Ham Broadcasting-owned stations (WHVO, WKDZ-AM, and WKDZ-FM).
