Kim Min-seok (born March 26, 1990), better known by his stage name Xiumin, is a South Korean singer and actor who is a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO and its sub-unit EXO-M.

Early life

Xiumin was born in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on March 26, 1990. He was a student at Catholic Kwandong University where he attended a seminar and gave a presentation for students in Applied Music.[1] Xiumin also went to the same high school as INFINITE's Dongwoo.

Xiumin learned martial arts and has a black belt in Kendo and Taekwondo. He also trained in Wushu and Fencing.[2]

Career

In 2008, at the age of 18, Xiumin was cast into S.M. Entertainment after winning second place in the S.M. Everysing Contest.

Xiumin was the seventh and oldest member to join EXO following a joint teaser with Kai on January 26, 2012.

Solo activities

In 2013, Xiumin was featured in the music video of "Gone" by Lovelyz' member JIN, alongside actress Kim Yoo-jung.[3]

In January 2015, he starred in the S.M. Entertainment musical School OZ, playing the character of Aquila alonside f(x)'s Luna Shinee's Key, Suho, TVXQ's Changmin and Red Velvet's Seulgi.[4]

In October 2015, Xiumin was cast to play the main role in the web drama "Falling for Challenge" alongside actress Kim So-eun. He also released his first solo OST "You Are The One" for the drama which became the most watched web drama in South Korea in 2015.[5]

In featured in AOA member Jimin's solo album and music video for the track "Call You Bae.[6][7] The first teaser of the song's music video was released on March 1. The official music video was released on March 2.
