Yakutpura is a traditional part of the old city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India, one of the major parts.

The word Ya·kut (yä-koot) from YakutPura is derived from the Persian word "Yakut" which means the precious Blue Sapphire Stone, It was named by the Nizam of Hyderabad.

As Hyderabad is famous by its nickname "City of Pearls", YakutPura was one of the precious parts of the Nizam's Hyderabad and hence it specified why it was named Yakut-Pura. Over the period this area has evolved with mostly educated, hard-working talented, multicultural and peace-loving people.

Commercial area

Exactly 2 km from the historic Charminar and Mecca Masjid, Yakutpura is one of the largest areas of old city. The choice for shops, hotels at Yakutpura is very good. Since Madannapet and Mir Alam Mandi vegetable market is close by, shopping choice is abundant as Lad Bazaar, Patthergatti not too far. It is also connected to Dabeer Pura via one of the oldest bridge (Flyover) in Hyderabad (Dabeer pura Bridge).[1] It is close to the Bibi ka Alawa, HEH Nizam's Museum, Salarjung Museum.

Yakutpura comes under South Zone of Hyderabad. South Zone areas are : Charminar, Patthargatti, Afzalgunj, Shalibanda, Falaknuma, Dabirpura, Yakutpura and Purani Haveli.

Most of Hyderabad's famous historical sights are in South Zone. Also called Old City or Purana Shahr, the South Zone is home to Hyderabad's most lively and authentic shopping experience.

Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is the MLA of Yakutpura.
