It is operated by Yew Chung Education Foundation. YCIS-Shanghai provides a fully rounded education that shapes students into balanced and responsible citizens of a global community.[1]

History

Since its establishment in 1993, YCIS Shanghai has served the needs of Shanghai's expatriates by providing excellent international education, and has become an important "window" to China in the exchange of educational ideas and experiences.

The rapidly expanding cosmopolitan metropolis of Shanghai has become a world-class economic centre with an added emphasis on arts and culture. In this same regard, YCIS Shanghai is proud to be a truly international school reflecting the global nature of today's world, with a student body representing more than 50 nationalities.

Mission and philosophy

YCIS is committed to offering a global education characterized by:

YCIS education programme

YCIS’s international curriculum is based on the framework and schemes of work from The National Curriculum for England (NCE). It is a research-based curriculum that allows high standards and ease of transition for international students who move from one country to another. YCIS offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in years 10 & 11 and the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma in years 12 & 13.[2]

Chinese curriculum

At YCIS Shanghai, students learn to read, write, and speak fluently in Chinese. The schools' curriculum caters to students, ages two to eighteen, from kindergarten to secondary school, and is tailored for both non-native and native speakers.[3]

Recent News

YCIS Shanghai celebrated the impressive achievements of its graduating class at the end of May during commencement ceremonies at both YCIS Shanghai's Century Park and Gubei Campuses.
