Yuri Souza Almeida (born 7 May 1995), commonly known as Yuri Mamute, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Panathinaikos on loan from Grêmio.

Despite having risen to professionals in 2011, Mamute is still quite young. The player has become more important for the squad since 2013 in the Campeonato Gaúcho. In 2014, it was loaned to Botafogo. He returned to Tricolor Gaúcho in early 2015, became a starter in a period under Luiz Felipe Scolari coaching and had been more important for the tactics of the squad by Roger Machado. However, an injury to the ligaments of the ankle in July 2015 was a key factor that kept him out of action for about a month. He began to lose ground in the Tricolor and, in the later rounds of the Brasileirão, was even related to the games. [1]

According to reports Panathinaikos and Grêmio confirmed the agreement for the lending of Mamute. The player had successfully pass the medical examinations and signed a 1,5 year loan contract with Greek giants Panathinaikos. According to Rádio Bandeirantes, the Brazilian international will play till the summer of 2016 for a borrowing amount of €100,000, which will reach the €200,000 if he will play the 2016-17 season. Panathinaikos could sign Mamute permanently in the summer of 2016, by paying €4 million and if they want to sign him at the end of the 18-month loan they have to pay €7 million. [2] [3] After three months with the club, the Brazilian striker who came in Greece to replace Nikolaos Karelis has not impressed and according to newspapers rumours will return to Grêmio at the end of the season.
