The 1985 Coral UK Championship was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place at the Guild Hall in Preston, England.[1] The event began on 15 November 1985 and the televised stages were shown on BBC between 25 November and 1 December 1985. The highest break of the televised stages was 135 made by Neal Foulds and the same of the non-televised stages was 140 made by Willie Thorne.
Steve Davis won his fourth UK Championship, coming back from 13–8 down against Willie Thorne, after Thorne missed a straight blue from its spot in the first frame of the final session that would have seen him take a 14–8 lead.
Stephen Hendry, aged sixteen, made his début in the tournament, but lost his first qualifying round match 2–9 to Omprakesh Agrawal.[2]
