The 2006–07 Denver Nuggets season was the 40th season of the franchise, 31st in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The season is best remembered for acquiring All-Star Allen Iverson from Philadelphia in a trade. Before the team acquired Iverson, All-Star Carmelo Anthony made headlines on December 15 when he was involved in a brawl against the Knicks. Anthony would later be suspended for the next 15 games. During his suspension, Anthony apologized to his mother and for his actions in a released statement. With Anthony and Iverson, the Nuggets finished with a 45-37 record, and entered the playoffs as the number 6 seed. The Nuggets ended the season with a playoff defeat to the eventual NBA champions, the San Antonio Spurs, in five games. Anthony and Iverson (the latter withdrew due to injury) were the only team representatives in the 2007 NBA All-Star Game. This was Anthony's first time as an All-Star.
