The 2012–13 season is Manchester City Football Club's 111th season of football, eleventh consecutive season in the Premier League, and twenty-first season in the Premier League since it was first created. City began the season as defending champions, having won the league in 2011–12. The club also played in the UEFA Champions League for the third time, the second since the competition was rebranded. City also reached the 10th FA Cup final in their history after beating Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on 14 April 2013. They then lost the final 1-0 against Wigan on 11 May 2013. On 13 May 2013, Roberto Mancini was sacked as City manager following three and a half years in the role.

Kit information

The home kit featured black trimmings, inspired by Manchester City's first ever home kit when it became known as West Gorton in 1884. The away kit was officially called 'zinfandel', an attractive shade of maroon with golden trimmings. The third kit was black with shadow stripes and sky blue accents. The three goalkeeper kits were green, purple and yellow. Umbro made their last kits for Manchester City this season.
