Events

Pre-season

England C goalkeeper, Jonathan Hedge left the club for Cambridge United.

On 14 May 2012, Danny Thomas joined Úrvalsdeild side Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar following his release.[1] Jonathan Hedge left the club to join Conference National rivals, Cambridge United for an undisclosed fee.[2] Hedge's understoody, Sam Andrew also left the club for Eastwood Town.[3] On 1 July 2012, Marcus Law confirmed three new additions, former players Tom Marshall and Tony Breedon from Kidderminster Harriers, along with Burton Albion youngster Jamie Smith.[4] Just four days later, Law confirmed he'd also secured the signings of Marcus Kelly, Adam Cunnington and Tommy Wright.[5] Last seasons captain, Paul Green left the club to join Forest Green Rovers on a two-year deal.[6] Former Aston Villa player Lee Hendrie agreed to join the club. Richard Tait was given the captains armband for the forthcoming season.[7] Graeme Law rejoined the club as player-coach.[8] Sam Habergham joined Braintree Town follow his release from the club.[9] The club began their pre-season with a friendly away at Heather St John's. The game finished in a 2–0 win.[10] The following day, The Lambs faced Stafford Rangers, in which they also won 2–1 away.[11] Kyle Nix joined Belgian Third Division A side UR La Louvière.[12] Peter Till, Lloyd Kerry & James Wren joined the club following successful trials.[13] Liam McDonald joined Redditch United as a player-development coach.[14] Francino Francis joins Northern Premier League Premier Division side Hednesford Town following his release from the club.[15] Kieron St Aimie signs for A.F.C. Telford United after being released by the club.[16] Spanish striker, Jan Lladó also joined the club following a successful trial. Last seasons' top scorer, Iyseden Christie joined rivals Alfreton Town following his release.[17] Milton Keynes Dons players, Jordan Ivey-Ward & Charlie Collins both joined the club on loan until 1 January 2013.[18] With a day to go until the first game of the season, Kyle Patterson left the club to join local rivals Nuneaton Town.[19]

August

Cunnington scored 4 goals during August.

The Lambs began their 2012–13 season campaign away at newly promoted side Dartford. The game ended in a 3–2 win, thanks to a goal from Peter Till and a brace by Adam Cunnington.[20] The next game was a home tie against last seasons League Two side Hereford United. After a somewhat poor start, conceding an early goal and gifting a penalty, The Lambs seemed to come alive in the second half, forcing an early goal scored by Tommy Wright and that man Adam Cunnington found himself on the scoresheet once again scoring 87 minute equaliser to secure a point.[21] Up next was a visit from Stockport County, Tamworth managed to edge out a 1–0 win thanks to a stoppage time goal from Sam Oji, his first for the club.[22] Tamworth then faced an away trip to Southport. The Lambs went on to win the game 3–0 thanks to goals from Charlie Collins, Tommy Wright and a penalty converted by Adam Cunnington.[23] Tamworth's final game of August, came at home on bank holiday Monday against Wrexham. The game ended the clubs unbeaten run as Wrexham took all three points, thanks to an early own goal by Duane Courtney.[24] Luke Bottomer as joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stafford Rangers on a month's loan.[25] On 31 August 2012, the club confirmed the signing of free agent Michael Girvan on non-contract terms. Girvan had been without a club after his release from Wigan Athletic at the end of last season. Shaun Jeffers and Vinny Mukendi both secured one-month-loan deals with the club from Coventry City and Barrow respectively.[26] George Baldock rejoined the club on a youth loan deal running until the end of the year, linking up with The Dons team mates, Charlie Collins and Jordan Ivey-Ward.[27] Following his release in the summer, goalkeeper Joe Collister joined rivals AFC Telford United on a one-year-deal.[28]

September

The month started with an away trip to Cressing Road where Tamworth would face Braintree Town. On 7 September, The Lambs brought in summer target John Dempster from Mansfield Town on an emergency loan until 6 October. Former Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Jemal Johnson signed on non-contract terms.[29] Following his release from parent club Barrow, Vinny Mukendi left the club on 11 September.[30] Troy Wallen left the club after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent. He was quickly snapped up by Midland Football Combination Premier Division side Bolehall Swifts.[31]
