The 2015–16 Eurocup Basketball was the 14th season of Europe's second-tier of international competition for men's professional basketball clubs, the Eurocup.

The tournament was won by Galatasaray, who defeated Strasbourg in the final.

Format

As in the previous season, 36 teams joined this first stage and was divided into two conferences.

The Regular Season featured six groups of six teams each one, where the four best teams were qualified to the Last 32 stage with the eight teams that did not qualified to the 2015–16 Euroleague Top 16. The 32 teams of this stage were divided into eight groups of four teams each one, where the two top teams qualified for the knockout stage.

In this last stage, all the rounds including the Eurocup Finals, are played in a double-leg format. The winner will earn a spot for the next Euroleague.

Teams

On May 6, 2015, Euroleague announced the club distribution.[1] Despite being announced for July 8, 2015,[2] the final composition was announced on June 29.[3]

Notes
^WC Nine teams received one-year wild cards to play in the 2015–16 Eurocup Basketball.
^FIBA Proximus Spirou, Avtodor Saratov and Szolnoki Olaj have replaced VEF Rīga, PGE Turów and Juventus for failing to complete their registration in the competition and participate in the FIBA Europe Cup. EWE Baskets and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have replaced ČEZ Nymburk and Telenet Oostende for failing to complete their registration in the competition after the draw of Eurocup and participate in the FIBA Europe Cup.[4]

Draw

The draw of the 2015–16 Eurocup took part on July 9, 2015 at approximately 12:00 local time (CEST) and was watched live on Euroleague.net and was broadcast live on TV in many countries.[5]

Two teams from the same country or league could not be drawn together in the same Regular Season group, if possible. For this purpose, Adriatic League worked as only one country.[5]

The performance of teams in European competitions during a three year period was used. Each club got 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie or loss from the Regular Season onwards. 2 bonus points were allocated for reaching the eighthfinals, 2 bonus points were allocated for reaching the quarterfinals, 1 bonus point was allocated for reaching the semifinals, 1 bonus point was allocated for reaching the finals. The Club Ranking consists of the sum of the club coefficients from the last three years. The results of the worst performing team from each country/League will be added together every year to create a position for that country/League in the Club Ranking. This is the lowest possible position that any club from that country/League can occupy in the draw.[5]
