The 2016–17 Scottish Championship (referred to as the Ladbrokes Championship for sponsorship reasons) will be the 22nd season in the current format of 10 teams in the second tier of Scottish football.
Ten teams will contest the league. As of 2 May 2016, Dumbarton, Dundee United, Dunfermline Athletic, Greenock Morton, Queen of the South and St Mirren are the only teams to have confirmed their places in the league.
