Trending Live!

Trending Live! is an live interactive show, with a focus on new music and general entertainment news, broadcast Monday-Thursdays from 4pm-6pm.[2] There are 3 presenters in each episode. One of these, Venetia Falconer, is ever present and her main involvement is reading out a selection of Tweets (that include the hashtag #trendinglive) from viewers. The other two presenting roles are rotated between Jimmy Hill; Will Best; Maya Jama and AJ Odudu. Other members of the production crew are often referred to, and on occasion seen, such as cameramen Marky and Nick.

Each episode usually begins with a short, humourous clip from the Internet of an animal (sometimes a human) purportedly dancing, with shots of the presenters joining in. After an introduction and an explanation of how the viewers (also known as "the Trendudes and Trendettes") can be a part of the show via #trendinglive, the first of multiple music videos are played. Inbetween the videos, the presenters primarily discuss the most recent entertainment news but also respond to the viewers' Tweets, play games, or perform short sketches in the studio.

Regular features include:

The show plays clips of other upcoming 4Music programming, such as celebrity interviews, movie specials and the "Pop Power List". These often include the Trending Live! presenters.

A Brit Awards 2016 special was broadcast on the same night as the ceremony from 5pm-8pm.[3]

Former channel 4 shows

The channel is also well known for repeating some of Channel 4's best loved shows between 2008-2013, here's a list of comedies of dramas and comedies shown on from the channel.

Launch night

4Music launched on 15 August 2008. The channel launched with an on-screen countdown counting down from ten minutes down to zero. During the countdown, clips from popular music videos were faded through the screen including clips from promotions for the channel. The channel then launched at 7pm with a promotional advert for the channel then fading into "Davina and Steve's 20 Big Ones"; the first song at number 20 being "The Pretender" by The Foo Fighters and Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" at number 1.

Kylie Minogue's KYLIEX2008 tour was broadcast. Completing the launch night line up was Big Brother Live, where Rachel Rice was given a 'favourite things party' as she had survived that night's eviction. She and her chosen favourite housemate, Kathreya Kasisopa, were taken to a private room where Rachel's top 10 favourite songs were played. Live coverage of the 2008 V Festival was shown on 16 and 17 August and highlights were shown on subsequent days. These highlights sparked complaints however as to the overall quality of coverage - the main headliners did not get their full sets played out.

Despite the arguments between Davina and Steve as to whose face appeared first on the channel, actually the first face on 4Music was Kylie Minogue, introducing her live concert at 9pm on the launch night (as they later explained).

The launch also saw a new DOG appear on the screen and new idents with a woman swivelling on a chair with the new pink 4Music logo in the background similar to the previous idea "The Hits" had with a TV suddenly filling with colour throughout the room.

V Festival & T4 on the Beach

4Music has coverage at both festivals during the Summer, with highlights repeated frequently throughout the Summer. The channel also has stages at both events. At T4 on the Beach since 2007 (renamed the "T4 and 4Music Stage" in 2010) and at the V Festival since 2005 (then known as the "Channel 4 Stage", renamed to the "4Music Stage" in 2008).

T4 on the Beach ended after T4 closed down on 30 December 2012
