Romanian singer Alexandra Stan has released three studio albums, one of which was reissued, one video album and 15 singles. Stan's career began in 2009, when music producers Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi heard her singing at a karaoke bar and offered her a contract with their own management, Maan Studio.[1] The same year, she released the promotional song "Show Me The Way" in Romania. Her debut single "Lollipop (Param Pam Pam)" gained heavy airplay on Romanian radio stations.[2]
Following this, Stan released the breakthrough single "Mr. Saxobeat", which was initially a success in Romania, peaking at number one for eight consecutive weeks.[3] Subsequently, the song was released internationally and peaked at number one in eight other countries across Europe, including Germany and Italy. Stan's follow-up single "Get Back (ASAP)" charted within the top 40 in many European countries, while peaking at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. In August 2011, Stan's debut studio album, Saxobeats, was released. The album peaked within the top 40 in Austria, Finland, Germany and Switzerland.
In 2013, Saxobeats was re-released under the new title of Cliché (Hush Hush), exclusively in Japan. The reissue spawned three singles, "Lemonade", "Cliche (Hush Hush)" and "All My People". Stan's second studio album, Unlocked, was released in August 2014. The record spawned singles such as "Cherry Pop" and "Dance", which gained popularity in Japan.[4][5] "Dance" topped the airplay-based Zip FM Year-end chart and was named the most aired song of 2014 on their radio station.[6] The album was less commercially successful than Saxobeats, peaking at number 21 on the Japanese Albums Chart. It left the chart after 17 weeks, bringing total sales of over 15,000 shipments in that country. In June 2015, Stan released a single with Inna and Daddy Yankee titled "We Wanna". Her third album, titled "Alesta" was released along with a new single, "Balans", featuring Mohombi.
