"We Wanna" is a song recorded by Romanian dance/pop vocalist Alexandra Stan from the German edition of her second album Unlocked .[1] It features the guest vocals of Romanian recording artist INNA, and Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee. The song was also released on the Turkish and Polish editions of INNA's self-titled fourth studio album. "We Wanna" was written by Andreas Schuller, Jacob Luttrell, Thomas Troelsen and Ramon Ayala, while production was handled by both Troelsen and Schuller. It was released on June 8, 2015 through Fonogram, Roton and Global Records, with the official music video premiering simultaneously on Stan's YouTube channel. Directed by Khaled Mokhtar, David Gal and Dimitri Caceaune in both Puerto Rico and Romania, it portrays Stan and Inna residing in a party hall, with Yankee having a rap cameo throughout the clip.

"I am very satisfied with this collaboration. I feel like it is a new beginning for me and I love the song, and Inna, too. I'm thankful to our managers, who have made this possible. I consider it to be a gift for my birthday, which is on June 10. And it is the best gift" (Stan)

"I'm very happy to have released the music video for "We Wanna". I read daily comments on social networks by people who have really enjoyed the collaboration between me and Alexandra... "We wanna dance", and we were both born by the sea, where holidays are holidays and fun is fun! (Inna)

"We Wanna" was initially written and composed for Inna's fourth studio album LatINNA (later renamed INNA), but was then given to Stan. The song was one of the songs previewed on Inna's YouTube channel on October 10, 2014, many of which would appear on the album.[3] Stan revealed the official single cover on June 2, 2015 via Facebook. Before launching the single, Stan was interviewed by Romanian tabloids, where she described her collaboration with Inna as a "vanilla-chocolate milkshake". Inna particularly emphasised the possibility of the song potentially being an "international hit".[4][5]

A behind-the-scenes video was leaked onto the official website of Romanian tabloid Cancan on May 12, 2015. It presents Stan and Inna during the filming session of "We Wanna", performing a dance routine choreographed by Emil Rengle.[6] Stan posted the first official teaser of "We Wanna" on her Facebook account on May 22, 2015. The fifteen-second-long clip showed Stan getting off a limousine and entering a full party hall.[7] In the same day, another behind-the-scenes video premiered, showing Inna dancing in front of a blue wall, wearing a black dress.[8] The final previews were posted online in early June 2015. The first one showed Inna and Stan sitting on an old-fashioned couch in front of a red wall and making subtle and provocative movements.[9]

Release and synopsis

One scene of the video presenting Inna (left) and Stan (right) posing in front of a red backdrop, with a cactus being also visible.

The music video of "We Wanna" premiered on Stan's YouTube channel on June 8, 2015 and has gathered more than 35 million views.[10] It was shot in both Romania and Puerto Rico by Khaled Mokhtar, Dimitri Caceaune and David Gal.[2] A choreography for the clip was created by Cristian Miron and Emil Rengle.[2] The video starts with Inna answering to a call she gets from Stan on her Lenovo smartphone, of which the ringtone is the saxophone riff featured in the song. The next scene portrays Stan and Inna sitting on a red bank in front of a red wall and a cactus. Subsequently, Stan and some backup dancers are seen in the dressing room of a club. Following this, she goes downstairs to a party hall which is full of people. After meeting some of her friends at the party, Stan meets Inna. During Daddy Yankee's cameo in the video, there's a dance competition in the club. The video ends in the same way as it opens. Cut scenes portray Yankee, Stan and Inna performing in front of colorful backdrops, Inna singing to a shadowed crowd or Stan dancing on a runaway accompanied by two fellow female background dancers.
